inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. A total of 34 people who were previously detained after a demonstration commemorating Youth Pledge Day in the Malioboro area of Yogyakarta have been released by the Yogyakarta Regional Police.

Royan Juliazka Chandrajaya, a public lawyer for the Yogyakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Yogyakarta), confirmed in Yogyakarta on Friday (10/30/2026) that all 34 people detained by the Yogyakarta Regional Police had been released on Thursday (10/29/2026) evening.

"That's right, we escorted them all last night until they were all released," he said.

Royan said that the Yogyakarta LBH had experienced difficulty meeting with the detainees because the police were still questioning them.

"They said they were still being processed, undergoing health checks, and so on," he said.

In line with this information, the Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ihsan, also announced in a written statement that the 34 people detained from the protest had been released after being questioned by officers.

"The 34 people we provided protection to during the riots at the Yogyakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Building have been returned home and picked up by their families and by the Yogyakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Yogyakarta)," he said.

Ihsan stated that the police took professional and procedural steps in handling the protests, including collecting data and questioning those receiving protection as part of the ongoing situation.

"This action is part of the Yogyakarta Regional Police's efforts to maintain public order and security following the protests that led to the riots," he said.

He urged the public not to be easily influenced by information circulating on social media and to verify its accuracy through official sources.

"The police prioritize proportional action in handling every incident, based on facts and legal provisions," he said.
