4,681 Evacuees in Mount Lewotobi Eruption: BPBD

Inp.polri.go.id - Wulanggitang. The eruption response post of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in Wulanggitang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), has registered 4,681 evacuees as of Sunday (7/1/2024). The volcano has been under Level III alert since 1 January2024. "Data is updated daily, and we hope for reduced volcanic activity to facilitate the return of residents," said Ahmad Duli, Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Flores Regency. Currently, 4,681 individuals and 421 households from the affected sub-districts of Wulanggitang and Ile Bura have been displaced. Additionally, 2,225 individuals are dispersed across homes and meeting halls in 13 villages. Assuring ample provisions, including food, sleeping materials, and a 25,000-liter portable water tank at evacuation posts in Boru, Wulanggitang, Konga, and Itihena, he said, "Although yesterday was slow, there is now sufficient time and substantial support to aid everyone at the evacuation sites, including closely monitoring their health."
