The large number of travelers and their vehicles has made the capacity of Merak Port and the ferry crossing to Bakahuni unable to accommodate the number of travelers. The paralysis of the Merak causes traffic jams to spread to the Tangerang toll road. Until D-2 Eid al-Fitr, the problem in Merak has not been fully resolved. The policy of opening and closing the Merak Port are indeed reduce the burden there, but it also causes congestion on the Tangerang toll road to increase. Of course, not all congestion problems can be completely solved by the National Police, all stakeholders related to other homecoming trips to Sumatra Island, such as the Ministry of Transportation, PT. ASDP Indonesia Ferry, and others, need to find another way to overcome the traffic jam towards Merak. According to mass media observer Rahmat Edi Irawan, the new strategy must be implemented as soon as possible. "Don't let the incident of the homecoming flow ahead of Lebaran happen again during the return flow later. The government must quickly learn and conduct an evaluation, in order to ensure better service to travelers," he said.
