Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh.  Aceh Regional Police has deployed a Mobile Brigade platoon to reinforce security at Kutacane Penitentiary in Southeast Aceh, following a mass prison break.

Aceh Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Joko Krisdiyanto said on Tuesday (11/3/2025) that as many as 52 inmates escaped on Monday before iftar. Authorities have recaptured 16, while 36 remain at large. 

“The situation is under control, but security measures are being strengthened to prevent further incidents,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Police are searching for the fugitives and urging the public to report any sightings. 

“Community cooperation is crucial to maintaining security,” Chief Joko emphasized.

He also called on the remaining escapees to surrender voluntarily to avoid harsher legal consequences, urging their families to assist in their return.
