Inp.polri.go.id - President Joko Widodo, commonly known as Jokowi, recently announced that the Mentawir Tree Nursery in East Kalimantan is nearing its completion, ready  play a pivotal role in the ecological transformation of the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN) and its surroundings. "We are preparing this nursery for the Nusantara Capital City and its vicinity. It's almost 100% complete; we just need to tidy it up," he said during his visit to the Nursery in North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan on Thursday (21/9/2023) President Jokowi affirmed that the seeds cultivated at thee Nursery are ready to be utilized for afforestation efforts to rejuvenate the forests surrounding the new capital and restore them to their original tropical rainforest state. "We aim to enhance the environment, rehabilitate various types of forests, including natural forests, those that have suffered damage, and degraded rainforests, as well as mangrove forests in need of restoration. We are dedicated to rehabilitating them all," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying. President Jokowi explained that the Nursery can produce an impressive 15 million plant seeds that are readily usable, which is is fundamental for the reforestation efforts. Various plant species available at the Nursery, include Tabebuya (Tabebuia  rosea) and red shoots (Syzygium myrtifolium),  Albasia Sengon (Albizia chinensis),   Ulin (Eusideroxylon zwageri), Meranti (Shorea leprosula Miq), and other tree varieties essential for both the aesthetic enhancement of the environment and  the reforestation endeavor.
