Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) has officially appointed Mochammad Afifuddin as the definitive KPU Chairman, succeeding Hasyim Asy'ari, who was dismissed by the KPU Honorary Council (DKPP).
KPU member August Mellaz confirmed that Afifuddin's appointment was finalized during a plenary meeting held on Sunday (28/7/2024), attended by all six KPU commissioners. This decision was made to meet the organizational needs and responsibilities in the near future.
Afifuddin, previously serving as the KPU Acting Chairman and a member of the Legal and Supervision Division, will serve until 2027, aligning with the current KPU term.
His appointment came after Hasyim was removed from office by DKPP on 3 July 2024 due to allegations of misconduct. The DKPP had instructed President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to replace Hasyim within seven days of the ruling.
