Inp.polri.go.id - Kediri. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman has declared firm action against the producers of adulterated rice, following the discovery of 212 mislabeled brands suspected of violating packaging standards in weight and quality.
During a field visit to Kediri, East Java,on Tuesday (15/7/2025), he said the ministry had formally involved the Indonesian National Police (INP) and Attorney General's Office, with 25 brand owners currently under investigation, as reported by antaranews.com.
“This is a serious issue. The estimated loss to consumers reaches nearly IDR 100 trillion annually,” the minister said, calling on businesses to stop exploiting farmers and consumers.
Minister Amran stressed that President Prabowo Subianto had issued a direct instruction to protect farmers, improve production, and ensure proper rice distribution across the country.
The INP’s Food Task Force continues to investigate, aiming to ensure price compliance under the ceiling price (HET) and restore public trust in rice quality.
