inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Agriculture Minister finished the swamp land optimization program in Merauke. This program covers an area of ​​40 thousand hectares to increase rice production.

The land optimization program was held in six districts which includes 10,540 hectares in Tanah Miring District, 10,674 hectares in Kurik District, 6,000 hectares in Semangga District, 6,629 hectares in Malindo District, 4,549 hectares in Jagebob District, and 1,609 hectares in Merauke District.

The Secretary of Agriculture Facilities and Infrastructure Directorate General, Hermanto, confirms that the land optimization program has been completed.

“With the completion of swamp land optimization reconstruction process, farmers can immediately tend the land and plant their seeds,” says Hemanto on Monday (9/30/2024).

In his statement, he explains that irrigation networks, farm bridges, and water pumps were included in the reconstruction program.

In its reconstruction, the irrigation network now reaches up to 732,716 meters, while the farm bridges and water pumps are added up to 178 units and 49 units respectively.

Following the reconstruction program, farmers can immediately tend the land and plant their seed. They are also given modern tools to boost farm yield products.

The optimization program will continue to be supported and farmers will continue to be supervised. The expectation of this program is that Merauke can become one of Indonesia's main food suppliers in the future.
