inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has requested that security stability in Papua be maintained so that infrastructure development can proceed safely and benefit the community.
According to AHY, the government has focused on security following several incidents of armed violence against civilians in the Papua Highlands region.
"Security and a sense of security are basic community needs and are crucial factors in supporting development," he said in Jayapura on Saturday.
He explained that synergy and collaboration between all ministries and institutions, including the Indonesian National Military (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (INP), and the regional government, are crucial to ensuring security.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Intan Jaya, Central Papua, Aner Maisini, stated that the regional government is committed to supporting infrastructure development in the region, despite still facing security challenges.
He explained that the Intan Jaya Regency Government, along with the TNI, the INP, community leaders, traditional leaders, and religious leaders, has established a commitment to overseeing development, including the Regional Road Presidential Instruction program.
"The regional government has also prepared a special team to oversee development on the ground and to establish communication with various community elements," he said.
He added that he hopes the support of the central government, security forces, and all elements of society will strengthen conducive conditions so that infrastructure development in Papua can continue sustainably.
