Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. Minister of Elementary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti, said on Saturday (24/1/2026) that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will serve as a tool rather than a substitute for human educators.

Speaking at a national seminar at Yogyakarta State University (UNY), the Minister emphasized that while AI offers rapid data processing and information retrieval, it lacks the essential human dimensions of moral responsibility, empathy, and lived experience critical to student development.

"AI remains a technology that cannot solve or replace everything; it can provide advice, but it does not experience the learning process," Minister Mu'ti said, as cited by antaranews.com.

The Minister highlighted that human oversight remains paramount to ensure ethical usage and to verify the validity of AI-generated content. He further announced that while AI and coding will be introduced as elective subjects for fifth-grade students starting in 2026, the policy focuses on balancing digital literacy with character building.

The government maintains that the "human asset" is irreplaceable in instilling social values and shaping the integrity of the next generation.
