inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Water and Air Unit Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s continues to provide aviation support for the 2026 Damai Cartenz in Central Papua. This support is part of the INP’s efforts to carry out its police duties while providing services and protection to the community in challenging situations.

One example of this support was the evacuation of a kidnapping victim identified as Deremina Uwamang from Bela 1, Alama District, to Timika on September 14, 2026. The evacuation was carried out using a Bell 412 P-3002 helicopter.

The victim was safely evacuated and then taken for examination and medical treatment at the Bhayangkara Timika Hospital.

Flight support was provided again on Thursday (9/17/2026), when a Bell 412 P-3002 helicopter was used to transport the victim's family from Jila District to Timika.

During the evacuation, the Indonesian National Police's Carstensz Peace Operation Team, along with the pick-up team, arrived safely at Timika Airport at 9:48 a.m. WIT. The operation proceeded safely, and all personnel and passengers arrived in Timika without any issues.

Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of Public Information Bureau of INP Public Relations Division, stated that the flight support provided by them is part of their presence in providing protection and services to the public, especially in areas with challenging geographical conditions and terrain.

"In carrying out every task in Papua, we prioritized not only security aspects but also ensured safety and humanitarian interests. This flight support is part of our efforts to be present, provide protection, services, and assist people in need," Trunoyudo said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday (9/18/2026).

According to him, the success of the evacuation and pick-up was due to the coordination and synergy between the 2026 Damai Cartenz personnel, the Water and Air Unit Directorate, and other relevant elements.

"Papua's terrain and geographical conditions present unique challenges. Therefore, flight safety, personnel professionalism, coordination, and synergy are consistently prioritized in every task," he said.
