Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas confirmed that convicts of any criminal offense are eligible for presidential amnesty or abolition, emphasizing that the Constitution places no restrictions on the types of crimes covered.
"All types of criminal offenses can be granted clemency if the president chooses to exercise this prerogative," he told antaranews.com in a special interview Monday (4/8/2025).
Although typically applied to political cases, he stressed the president’s authority remains broad. Minister Supratman revealed that a new bill covering amnesty, abolition, pardon, and rehabilitation is being prepared to replace the outdated 1954 law.
He also confirmed that the list of 1,178 amnesty recipients, including Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Hasto Kristiyanto, will be published on the Ministry’s official website.
“This is to ensure full transparency. I have already ordered the director general to upload the names,” he said.
The latest abolition went to ex-Trade Minister Thomas “Tom” Lembong, convicted in a Rp 194.7 billion sugar import corruption case.
