inp.polri.go.id - Bintang Mountains. The old building of Kiwirok State Junior High School in Sopamikma Village was burned down by an Armed Criminal Group (KKB) of Kodap XV Ngalum Kupel on Monday (13/10/2025).

The criminal action was discovered following a monitoring by the Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force.

At around 06.00 WIT, monitoring results observed seven armed individuals burning the old building of Kiwirok State Junior High School.

Responding to the incident, security personnel moved to the location. At around 07.20 WIT, shortly after personnel arrived at the end of Kiwirok Airport, a single gunshot was heard from the direction of the burning location.

A gunfight ensued between security forces and the KKB. The joint team managed to push the armed group back towards Kotobib Village.

After ensuring security, a joint security team visited the refugee camp at Polobakon Village Hall to provide security advice.

The Head of the Damai Cartenz Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, condemned the arson that targeted educational facilities.

"Attacks on schools are an inhumane crime. Educational facilities are where Papuan children gain knowledge and hope for their future. We will continue the monitor to ensure that incidents like this do not recur," he stressed.

The Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, along with the military, is currently monitoring the movements of armed groups in the Kiwirok border area and has tightened entry and exit routes to prevent further action.
