inp.polri.go.id - Tanjung Selor. The Commander of the Mobile Brigade Unit of the North Kalimantan Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Sutrisno Hady Santoso, led the extinguishing and cooling of the wildfires in the Selimau, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency.
This step was taken to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and to prevent the reappearance of hotspots that could trigger the fire to spread again.
"Together with our 10 personnel and joint officers from other agencies, we are cooling the Selimau area, Tanjung Selor, Bulungan Regency," said Sutrisno in Tanjung Selor, North Kalimantan, on Sunday (9/6/2026).
Sutrisno emphasized that the monitoring and cooling process is a follow-up step after the fire has been brought under control. Officers ensure that the affected area is free of embers or hot spots that could potentially flare up again.
"We are monitoring and cooling the area to ensure there are no more hot spots or embers that could potentially trigger a fire re-emergence," he explained.
According to him, the involvement of the North Kalimantan Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit demonstrates their attention and commitment to ensuring optimal and coordinated forest and land fire management. The safety of personnel and the surrounding community is also a primary concern.
Sutrisno also checked conditions on the ground and instructed personnel to remain vigilant, especially in areas where embers or smoke are still visible.
"Forest and land fire management doesn't stop after the fire is extinguished; it needs to be continued with comprehensive monitoring and cooling to ensure conditions are truly safe," he emphasized.
He added that monitoring and cooling activities are part of their step to address the threat of forest and land fires. Collaboration with the Indonesian National Military (TNI) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) is also being strengthened to prevent fires from recurring and spreading.
"Personnel must remain vigilant for the possibility of re-emergence of hotspots and continue to collaborate with the TNI and relevant agencies. Public safety and preventing the spread of forest and land fires are our top priorities," he concluded.
