inp.polri.go.id - Yahukimo. The 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force has again apprehended a suspected member of an armed group, Meno Heluka, during an operation conducted on Monday morning (2/23/2026) in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains.
Meno Heluka was apprehended in the Pasar Baru area after being observed for approximately two days near Terminal 88 and suspected of intending to move towards the Korowai region.
The Yahukimo Law Enforcement Unit team moved quickly to conduct an investigation and monitor the situation before finally apprehending the suspect. Meno Heluka was then taken to the Yahukimo Sub-regional Police HQ for intensive questioning and further investigation.
The Head of Public Relations for the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, stated that the arrest was based on monitoring and developing information in the field.
"The team has been monitoring and investigating the individual's movements. Upon confirming his whereabouts, personnel immediately moved swiftly and carefully, successfully apprehending Meno Heluka without disrupting public order and security in the surrounding area," he explained (2/24/2026).
Meno Heluka is known to be a core member of the Kopitua Heluka group, which has been identified by authorities as a group actively involved in armed violence in the Papuan Mountains.
The Head of 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that action against members of the armed group will continue to be carried out in a measured and professional manner.
"Any individual suspected of involvement in violence against officers or civilians will be prosecuted according to applicable law. This law enforcement is part of efforts to maintain security stability and provide legal certainty for the Papuan people," he said.
