inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Rachmat Pambudy, stated that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is able to encourage food diversification in Indonesia.
According to him, areas that have an abundant stock of sago should make it as the main source of carbohydrates for the MBG menu. Likewise, areas in Eastern Indonesia that decide to choose corn as their carbohydrates in take.
"In addition, sweet potatoes can also be an alternative," said the Head of Bappenas, on Wednesday (1/15/2025).
He added that the menu for the carbohydrate intake will later be adjusted to the policy of the kitchen head in each region. "What is important is that this program will reduce dependence on rice and utilize local potential," said the Head of Bappenas.
He also mentioned that several regions replaced milk with chicken eggs, depending on the potential of each region. He emphasized the importance of adequate nutrition and empowerment of local potential according to the President's direction, so that this program can meet the needs of students, suppliers, and the community involved.
On that occasion, he appreciated SPPG Gagaksipat which was able to serve up to 12,000 portions per day, with a nutritious menu that met the standard needs for carbohydrates, protein, and minerals.
"The composition of the food is good, and the kitchen is also efficient. Here there are two kitchens, each serving 6,000 portions," said the Head of Bappenas.
