Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Batam Immigration Office and the Riau Islands Regional Police etained 23 foreigners during a joint operation Wira Waspada for various immigration violations committed between April and May 2025.
Head of Batam Immigration Office Hajar Aswad said on Thursday (15/5/2025) that among them, two Chinese citizens were found overstaying their visas by 14 days and working without proper permits. Authorities are currently investigating their sponsors, according to antaranews.com.
Seventeen Myanmar citizens overstayed their visit visas—some for up to 169 days. They were reportedly migrant workers bound for Singapore, coordinated by a fellow Myanmar citizen, identified as TS, who holds asylum seeker status. Sixteen of them will be deported, while TS’s case will be coordinated with the Tanjungpinang Immigration Detention Center and UNHCR.
A Canadian citizen, identified as WN, is also being processed for deportation after causing public disturbance. Due to a suspected mental condition, he is currently undergoing medical assessment.
Three Bangladeshi citizens entered Indonesia illegally via Sekupang, bypassing official checkpoints. Their case has been handed over to prosecutors for violating the Immigration Law.
