Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Alms Agency (Baznas) has called on all parties involved in the conflict to adhere to the UN Security Council's decision adopting a ceasefire resolution in the Gaza Strip during Ramadan.
Baznas Chairman Noor Achmad hoped that the UN would have the authority to both uphold and pressure parties showing signs of non-compliance, as reported by antaranews.com.
"We hope the UN has the power to pressure both Israel and Palestine to implement what's been decided," he said on Tuesday (26/3/2024).
Non-compliance with the decision impacts the hindrance of humanitarian aid delivery to Palestine, which remains obstructed.
Noor strongly hoped the ceasefire would facilitate timely aid distribution as planned.
On Monday (25/3/2026), the UN Security Council adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan, aiming for a "sustained and enduring" ceasefire.
A total of 14 countries supported the resolution, proposed by 10 elected council members, while the US abstained from the vote.
The resolution calls for "an immediate ceasefire during Ramadan respected by all parties and leading to a sustained and enduring ceasefire."
