Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo implores the community of Bitung, North Sulawesi (Sulut) to remain calm following the recent provocative incident. He implores people of Bitung not to be easily swayed by wild rumors surrounding the incident. “Do not let this incident divide us,” calls Sigit at Grand Sahid Hotel in South Jakarta on Monday (11/27/2023). Sigit states that he has coordinated with North Sulawesi Police Chief for mitigation efforts. Same measures also been taken by Indonesian Military Force and related stakeholders to bring the situation in Bitung under control. “Until today, the regional military commander, regional police chief, and all related stakeholders are working together to prevent similar from happening again,” Sigit explains. Last Saturday (11/25/2023), clash between two community organizations happened in Bitung. Officials reported that the brawls injured three civilians and the victims have been evacuated to the hospital. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
