National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) explains the importance of their collaborative partner role in deradicalization program as they welcome the visit of Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG) and Singaporean Internal Security Department (ISD). The BNPT Deradicalization Director, Ahmad Nurwakhid explains that one of the role of their collaborative partner is to told the story on how terrorist groups brainwashed their victims. “Terrorism could harm anyone, which is why in anticipating the terrorism, we employ former terrorists who were brainwashed by the group in the past. They would tell us their experience on how they got brainwashed by the group,” says Ahmad. On that occasion, Ahmad also present the difference between Indonesian and Singaporean regulations in combatting terrorism. He explains that in Indonesia, there are three cluster levels while facing ideology viruses. First is those who are vulnerable to be brainwashed by the terrorist groups; next is those who have been exposed to the dangerous ideology but unaware of it; while last clusters is those who openly shows their radicalism and affiliated with terrorist groups. “The difference is we can only act against those who are in cluster three by working together with Special Detachment 88 Counter-terrorism. While in Singapore, officials can conduct pre-emptive justice to those who are still in the first cluster,” explains Ahmad. Meanwhile, the head delegation of RRG, Salim bin Mohamed Nasir says that Singapore saw Indonesia as a country who are able to combat terrorism positively. “We want to learn from the counter-terrorism experts of BNPT RI. We saw that Indonesia is able to face all challenges in combatting terrorism positively,” Salim says in his compliment. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
