inp.polri.go.id - The Deputy Chief of Community Development Unit of Cartenz Peace Ops, AKBP Yamin Dian Prihartono, S.I.K gave education and training on how to take care of the pigs in the pen and processed their food. The training was held in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Tuesday (26/04). AKBP Yamin was accompanied by a veterinarian, Rafael Heri Nugroho. They trained Yali-Anggruk Tribe Chief Mr. Isak Salak and his family on how to breed pigs properly. On that occasion, Rafael told Isak about how to feed a pig. "Pigs should be given food 2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening, where the pigs are still growing after being separated from the mother. Before reaching adulthood, they must be fed regularly at least 2 times a day and give them a bucket filled with clean water,” said Raphael. Rafael adds that pigs do not have to use a cement pen, as long as the cage is strong. Instead of cement, a sturdy wooden board is also acceptable, where it is easier to clean. After Rafael explained everything to Isak, he and his family then were trained in making animal food, by processing and mixing animal feed with ingredients found in nature. AKBP Yamin said that by providing this training, the community would get the benefit, and pig farming would be able to develop well. "Education on how to make a good food and a consistent feeding to the pigs can accelerate the growth of pigs so that they can become a high-quality livestock and then can be sold at a higher price," he said. He also thanked Rafael Heri Nugroho for sharing his knowledge with the community. Yamin hopes that the community can apply the given knowledge so that pigs can grow optimally.
