Cases of Sexual Violence is Still High in East Java

inp.polri.go.id - Cases of sexual violence against children in East Java as of August 2022 is still very high. Many of these cases occur in the home environment, according to data from the Women's and Children's Protection Symphony (PPA) from the Office of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Population (DP3AK) of East Java Province. Ida Tri Wulandari, explained that from 38 regencies/cities, violence against children as of August 2022 from East Java are as many as 589 cases. From the data on the number of cases, the highest came from sexual violence against children case with 358 cases, and the second highest is the psychological violence with 204 cases, while in the third highest is physical violence with 141 cases. Most of the cases occurred in the home environment, which reached 322 cases, the number was much higher than what occurred in public facilities as many as 87 cases. “Based on the data from the Women's and Children's Protection Symphony, there is indeed a high amount of sexual violence in their own home environment, possibly one of the causes is the recent Pandemic, which caused people to spent most of their time in home," explained the Head of the Division of Women's Protection and Family Quality of the Women's and Children's Empowerment Service.
