Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. Central Java Regional Police have dispatched a forensic team to investigate the cause of the fire aboard KM Kirana I, owned by PT Dharma Lautan Utama, which occurred in the Semarang waters on Sunday.

Central Java Police DIrector of Water and Air Police, Senior Superintendent Hariadi, said on Monday (12/8/2024) that the investigation will begin once the ship’s situation allows. 

The ship continued to be cooled down, and a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

KM Kirana was scheduled to dock in Semarang before continuing to Sampit on13  August 2024. During the incident, 52 crew members who had jumped into the sea were evacuated. 

No casualties were reported as the ship was not carrying any passengers at the time.
