This Directorate was established in the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of Polri, Regional Polices, and Departmental Police. According to her, the PPA Directorate is in line with the steps taken by the Police to prioritize restorative justice for the stability of national security. "We hope that the process of forming the PPA Directorate can run smoothly because it is very necessary, given the high cases of violence against women and children," said the Chairperson of the Indonesian House of Representatives in her press statement, Friday (1/7/2022). According to the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), the presence of the PPA Directorate will support the technical implementation of Law (UU) No. 12 of 2022 regarding TPKS because later this directorate will be filled with more policewomen. “The PPA Directorate is in line with the TPKS Law which has been realized after a long struggle. With policewomen at the forefront, the Directorate of PPA Polri will certainly make victims feel more safe and comfortable. Considering that the majority of victims of sexual violence are women and children,” explained Puan. Furthermore, she hopes the Directorate of PPA Polri can play a role in prevention programs for violence against women and children. It is believed that the cooperation of Polri with cross-agency and several elements of society can help resolve cases of sexual violence. "We believe the Police will continue to have the integrity in serving the community. The police must be firm in cracking down crimes against women and children,” he said. The first woman to serve as Chairperson of the DPR RI conveyed her appreciation on the 76th anniversary of Bhayangkara, and she expected the Police to continue to be humane in providing services to the people. "I am sure that by continuing to improve the professionalism and promoting a more humane approach, Polri will continue to be the state’s institution that is accepted by the community, while adheres to the main tasks and functions of the Police in accordance with the mandate of the Act," said Puan. "Starting from reducing crime rates, optimizing the handling of acts of terrorism, to the achievements of Polri who have helped in handling the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccination programs. In addition, the theme of this anniversary is also in line with the participation of Polri in post-pandemic economic recovery," she continued.
