China Donates Advanced Drug Detection Equipment to Indonesia's BNN
Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chinese government has granted advanced drug detection equipment to the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) during an officiall handover that took place in Jakartaon Friday.
“This equipment will significantly enhance Indonesia's ability to combat drug-related crimes, safeguard public health, maintain social stability, and address criminal activities effectively,” said Wang Lutong, China’s Ambassador to Indonesia, in a statement on Sunday (8/12/2024).
The initiative followed an agreement between President Prabowo Subianto and Chinese President Xi Jinping, aimed at strengthening joint efforts against transnational crimes, including drug trafficking.
BNN Chief Marthinus Hukom appreciated the grant, highlighting its role in improving anti-narcotics efforts. He also highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the two nations in fighting the drug trade, according to antaranews.com/
The grant includes three vehicle-mounted inspection devices and robotic "sniffer dogs" designed to detect narcotics. BNN plans to deploy the technology at key points such as seaports and airports, where the majority of illicit drugs enter Indonesia.
