Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has confirmed that access to Wikimedia services will be fully restored once the platform completes its mandatory registration as a Private Scope Electronic System Provider (PSE).
"We appreciate the communication established by Wikimedia and their commitment to follow up on the PSE registration process," said Director General of Digital Space Oversight Alexander Sabar on Monday (16/3/2026), as reported by antaranews.com.
He clarified that the non-profit status of an organization does not exempt it from legal obligations under Ministerial Regulation No. 5 of 2020. This regulation ensures platforms provide clear technical coordination points for handling illegal content and safeguarding user rights.
Access normalization will proceed via the Online Single Submission (OSS) system as soon as verification is finalized, ensuring a secure and sovereign digital ecosystem for millions of Indonesian users.
Currently facing partial restrictions on its authentication subdomain, the global knowledge repository WIkimedia has committed to fulfilling Indonesia’s administrative requirements. Government officials noted that while they value Wikimedia’s contributions to public education, all digital platforms operating within the country must adhere to national data protection and accountability standards.
