inp.polri.go.id - Yahukimo. The Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force is conducting an in-depth investigation into the violent act that killed five civilians by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Elkius Kobak in Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency. 

So far, based on the testimony of a witness with the initials DA, on Sunday night at around 19.00 pm, two workers were found dead on Poros Kampung Bingki, Seradala District.

The Head of Damai Cartenz Operation, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, explained that upon learning of the incident, a number of miners planned for escape to Dekai, but were unable to do so due to bad weather. The next day, at around 08.00 am, the criminals launched another attack on Camp Kali Kulum.

He said the group used arrows and firearms, causing panic among the miners. In this action, three miners  became victims of the KKB's brutality.

"We received information that there are three more bodies that fell to the brutal action of this armed criminal group," said Faizal on Tuesday (9/23/2025).

He emphasized that until now, he has not been able to confirm the exact number and identity of the victims as the authority have not been able to reach the crime scene (TKP). 

When the authorities tried to go to the location, they were met with resistance that made it increasingly impossible to continue the journey.

In addition to the gunfight, Faizal also stated that the evacuation planned for today had to be postponed due to heavy rain that had poured down on the Yahukimo area since morning.

"This condition makes it difficult for the evacuation team to cross the river due to its strong current" he said.

Regarding the total number of victims, Faizal stated that so far his party can only confirm there were only five victims. However, as of now the investigation remains continue.

His team will only be able to confirm the victim data after the bodies have been successfully evacuated and matched.
