Indonesian National Police (INP)  Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed on Thursday (28/12/2023) that there was a brief commotion involving some members of the community during the funeral procession of the late suspended Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe. "There was a minor incident involving some members of the community. However, it was subsequently anticipated," he said after attending the Declaration of Peaceful Elections and the inauguration of new facilities at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters  on Thursday (28/12/2023). Chief Sigit explained that he had instructed the security forces to prepare for securing Enembe's funeral procession. He also urged his subordinates to maintain control over the situation in Papua, antaranews.com reported. "We have conveyed to the authorities to prepare themselves to face and ensure that the situation remains under control," he said. The general hoped that the entire series of Enembe's funeral would proceed smoothly without any disturbances. Enembe passed away in Jakarta on Tuesday. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
