Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The House of Representatives (DPR) has approved a presidential request to grant amnesty to Hasto Kristiyanto, the Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), who was convicted of bribery in the Harun Masiku case.

“The DPR approves Presidential Letter No. R42/PRES/07/2025 on the amnesty for 1,116 convicted people, including Mr. Hasto Kristiyanto,” said DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco in a statement after a consultation meeting on Thursday evening (31/7/2025) at the DPR Complex in Jakarta, as quoted by antaranews.com

Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas confirmed that the amnesty request was submitted by his ministry to President Prabowo Subianto. 

He said that the amnesty is part of a broader plan to grant clemency to over 44,000 inmates, though only 1,116 met current eligibility requirements.

Hasto was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and fined Rp 250 million for providing Rp 400 million in bribes but was acquitted of obstruction charges.
