inp.polri.go.id - Ternate. The Maluku Regional Police Traffic Directorate implores the public on the road to be more careful while driving amidst the thicken haze due to wildfire.

The Director of Maluku Regional Police Traffic Directorate, Senior Superintendent Doni Hermawan, asked drivers, be it motorcycle and cars, to constantly turn on their lights while driving.

Other than turning on their lights, the public also advised not to speed and maintain a safe distance between one another to anticipate collision.

“This appeal applies to all drivers, both motorcycle and car,” says Doni on Tuesday (10/13/2026).

Doni also reminded the public to not force themselves to go out if the haze is getting thicker and visibility is greatly limited.

He believes that safety should be the first priority for all, such as drivers, pedestrians and traffic officials in the field. Thus, drivers are expected to adjust their speed and always be careful while driving.

Other than security, Doni also invites the public to maintain their health while the haze still covers the city. Those who still have to go out during haze are implored to wear a health mask to prevent respiratory health problems.

"When the haze covers your neighborhood roads, you are expected to lower your speed and exercise caution," he added.

The North Maluku Regional Police Traffic Directorate hopes the public will comply with this advice to minimize the risk of traffic accidents while haze conditions impair visibility.
