inp.polri.go.id - Jombang. The East Java Regional Police supports the solidifying of Indonesian National Police (INP) Manpower Desk to provide a place for workers to complain and guarantee their rights as workers.
The support was voiced by the East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa when accompanying the INP Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto in the inauguration of Jombang Sub-regional Police Manpower Desk on Saturday (10/17/2026).
“We support the strengthening of the INP Manpower Desk as protecting workers’ rights require the collaboration of all,” says Khofifah in Jombang.
Khofifah hoped that the service at the sub-regional police level could help workers deliver their report more easily and pushed for a more professional handling.
According to her, protecting worker rights must go hand-in-hand with legal certainty and business continuity. This balance is considered crucial for creating healthy and equitable industrial relations.
According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Java Province, the workforce in the region reached 25.32 million people in May 2026. Of that number, 24.46 million were employed.
Meanwhile, the open unemployment rate was recorded at 3.42 percent, down from 3.55 percent in February 2026.
The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector is the largest absorber of labor in East Java, accounting for 31.77 percent. Next, the wholesale and retail trade sector absorbs 18.63 percent, while the manufacturing industry accounts for 14.64 percent.
Khofifah emphasized that labor protection is a shared responsibility, from fulfilling workers' rights to ensuring employment relations and resolving disputes based on statutory regulations.
"For us, workers are not just part of the production process, but also the driving force of the economy and regional development. Therefore, workers' rights must be protected, while the continuity of the business world must also be maintained," noted Khofifah.
On the same occasion, Chief Suyudi explained that the inauguration of the Manpower Desk at the regional level was carried out simultaneously in 35 regional units across 14 regional police forces.
This service focuses on consultation and handling of labor complaints, particularly regarding termination of employment (PHK), severance payments, and wage disputes.
