Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police deployed Operational Control Support (BKO) officers for a seven-day operation to strengthen forest and land fire suppression across nine regions on Wednesday (21/10/2026).
Speaking after leading a troop readiness roll call in Surabaya, East Java Police Chief Inspector General Dekananto Eko Purwono said that officers will focus on fire suppression, prevention, and criminal law enforcement against illegal burning.
Emphasizing total commitment following presidential and police leadership directives, he called for vigilant cross-sector coordination with local disaster agencies and military forces.
"Although hotspots have decreased, we must not let our guard down because potential new fires remain high during the dry season," Chief Dekananto said during the ceremony.
The deployed officers will operate through 27 October 2026, after which police leadership will evaluate field conditions to determine if further officer shifts or reinforcements are necessary, according to antaranews.com.
