Starting from the suspicion of the Surabaya Tanjung Perak Customs when they found a package from Malaysia addressed to the suspect RA who was identified by the Tanjung Perak Port Customs officer as narcotics, therefore Tanjung Perak Customs and Excise coordinated with the East Java Regional Police's Directorate of Traffic Security. After knowing this, the police delivered the package according to the address. After receiving it, the suspect pair RA and ICK (Nigerian citizen) were arrested at the City Park Gate Apartment parking lot, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. The East Java Regional Police's Directorate of Traffic Security managed to apprehend two narcotic dealers of methamphetamine and ecstasy types smuggled from Malaysia via sea expeditions. From this arrest, the police secured 3.9 Kilograms of methamphetamine, divided into eight pockets and 996 Ecstasy pills, divided into two pockets. The Directorate of Traffic Security arrested two suspects; one was a dealer with the initials ICK, and a woman who ordered drugs with the initials CK. During the examination, the suspect ICK admitted to having ordered shabu from a dealer from the neighbouring country, Malaysia. The Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Gatot Reply Handoko, accompanied by the Dirreskoba of the East Java Regional Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Hanny Hidayat said that the discovery of narcotics smuggling between countries proves that the Indonesian police have not stopped fighting all forms of drug crime, even amid the Covid-19 pandemic. For his actions, the suspect was charged with article 114 paragraph 2 and article 112 paragraph two, as well as article 132 paragraph 1, the narcotics law, with a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison.
