Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A series of explosions and loud crashes were heard during a fire at Glodok Plaza, Tamansari, West Jakarta, on Wednesday night (15/1/2025).
West Jakarta firefighter Farid speculated that the explosions came from vehicles parked on the 7th floor of the building.
“The parking area is on the 7th floor. It seems the large explosion was caused by a car,” he said at the scene, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The first major blast occurred at 11.50 pm, shocking bystanders who had gathered near the site. Firefighters immediately urged the crowd to move back from the area, which had been secured with police tape.
Following the initial explosion, additional blasts and loud crashing sounds continued to echo from the burning building. Shattered glass and other debris fell from the upper floors as the fire raged on.
As of 12.21 am Thursday, flames were active on the 7th, 8th, and 9th floors. Firefighters remained at the scene, battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
