inp.polri.go.id - Central Java. The Central Java Regional Police's Cyber Crime Directorate received commendation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) following their successful uncovering of a transnational online fraud case involving a pig butchering scam.
The commendation was conveyed during an audience between a delegation from the FBI and the Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance, and Training (OPDAT) of the United States Embassy with Central Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Roy Hardi Siahaan at Central Java Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
This award recognizes collaboration in handling digital fraud cases targeting victims across borders. The Central Java Regional Police Chief believes international cooperation is crucial for uncovering increasingly complex cybercrimes that transcend national borders. As reported by RRI.co, Thursday (10/15/2026),
The Director of Cyber Investigation at the Central Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Wahyu Nugroho Setyawan, stated on Thursday, October 15, 2026, that the FBI's appreciation motivates his staff to improve their professionalism and investigative capabilities.
He stated that handling cybercrime requires coordination and information exchange through official mechanisms, especially when the perpetrators, victims, and financial flows are located in different countries. As a follow-up to capacity building, the FBI invited four personnel from the Central Java Regional Police Cyber Investigation Directorate to participate in a training program in Bali in November 2026.
"The training is expected to improve investigators' abilities in tracing digital footprints, analyzing electronic evidence, uncovering perpetrator networks, and handling online investment fraud and crimes involving digital financial transactions," explained Wahyu.
Wahyu emphasized that the Central Java Regional Police's Cyber Crime Directorate will continue to strengthen collaboration with law enforcement partners and raise public awareness of digital fraud.
"These efforts are expected to increase the effectiveness of cybercrime detection while also protecting the public from various online fraud methods," Wahyu concluded.
