inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A flash flood struck the Arosuka area of Gunung Talang District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, on Monday evening (9/21/2026). The police said that the disaster occurred after heavy rains inundated the area.
The Head of Public Information for the Indonesian National Police (INP) Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated that heavy rain had been pounding Solok Regency since the afternoon. At around 7:30 p.m., the flood began to hit after the flow of several rivers increased.
The disaster was then exacerbated by a landslide near the headwaters of the Batang Laso River. Landslide debris was carried by the current and hit the Solok Regency Government Offices in Arosuka.
"The West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade Corps responded quickly and headed to the disaster site at 9:00 PM," said Trunoyudo in a written statement on Tuesday (9/22/2026).
Disaster response on the ground was led directly by Solok Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Rini Anggraini, along with the West Sumatra Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Solok Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and the Solok 0309 Military District Command.
"Upon arrival at the location, the joint units immediately began searching for people still reported missing and clearing debris from the flash floods and landslides that had blocked public access," he added.
Based on preliminary data, four residents were injured. Three victims suffered minor injuries: Muslihat (54), Anggiat Sirait (66), and Yurnalis (45).
Meanwhile, Muhammad Nur Zen (56) suffered a fracture to his lower extremities accompanied by bleeding. He has been referred to Semen Padang Hospital (SPH) in Padang City for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, two residents are still being searched for: Dafi Arahman (21) and Agusra (59).
"The search for victims continues, materials are being cleared, access is being opened, and the basic needs and psychological well-being of the community are also being addressed by the police," he concluded.
