Inp.polri.go.id - Brussels.  President Prabowo Subianto has confirmed that foreign hospitals, healthcare institutions and universities can now establish and operate branches in Indonesia. This announcement was made during his meeting with President of the European Council António Costa at the Berlaymont Building, headquarters of the European Union in Brussels.

"In the past two years, we’ve opened foreign participation in many sectors, including healthcare. Any foreign hospital or health institution is now allowed to open a branch or a related institution in Indonesia," President Prabowo said on Sunday (13/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

His statement signals new opportunities under the soon-to-be-signed Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA), expected in September 2025.

President Prabowo expected for deeper European involvement in Indonesia's economy, highlighting Europe’s strengths in governance, technology, and finance, while emphasizing Indonesia’s rich natural resources and critical minerals.

In addition to healthcare, President Prabowo noted that foreign universities are now permitted to operate in Indonesia. He also aims to increase the number of Indonesian students studying in Europe.

"Each year we send over 3,394 government-sponsored students to Europe, and we plan to expand this further," he said.
