inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni assured the government that the government will continue to sustainably improve the national carbon trading ecosystem.

In his statement, the Minister of Forestry assessed that Indonesia has enormous carbon potential, but it has not yet developed optimally due to inaccurate perspectives.

"I am committed to continuously improving our carbon trading ecosystem. We understand that the potential is enormous, but it has been stalled due to differing perspectives, resulting in significant delays in realizing this enormous potential," said Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/5/2026).

He explained that the government has issued Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025 concerning the Economic Value of Carbon, which was then followed by Ministerial Regulation Number 6 of 2026 as technical regulations for the forestry sector.

According to him, this policy has received appreciation from various international institutions such as ICVCM, Verra, and IETA, which have played a role in developing the global carbon market.

In addition to strengthening regulations, the Ministry of Forestry has also begun to open up opportunities for carbon trading in conservation areas.

One pilot project is being developed in Way Kambas National Park, in conjunction with the formation of the National Park Funding Innovation Task Force to encourage more innovative conservation financing schemes through a blended finance approach.

"We hope that these new approaches, including carbon trading in national parks, can strengthen forest governance toward a carbon market with high integrity and high quality," said Raja Antoni.
