Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced on Monday (23/3/2026) that former Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas is being processed for a return to a state detention facility, ending a brief stint under house arrest.
"Today, Monday, 23 March 2026, the KPK is conducting the process to transfer suspect YCQ from house arrest back to the KPK detention center," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, as reported by antaranews.com
The decision was made after public scrutiny sparked by reports from other detainees’ families who noted Yaqut’s absence during recent Eid al-Fitr prayers. Yaqut, who was initially detained on 12 March 2026 following allegations of a Rp 622 billion hajj quota graft, had been granted house arrest on 19 March 2026 following a family petition.
Prosecutors highlighted that the move back to a secure cell ensures the integrity of the ongoing investigation into the 2023-2024 hajj administration. The commission reiterated its commitment to transparency, promising further updates as the high-profile corruption case proceeds toward trial.
