Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that four Indonesian citizens have been detained in the United States amid stricter immigration enforcement, with one already deported.

"An Indonesian citizen in San Francisco has been deported," said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Protection for Indonesians Abroad, on Thursday (6/3/2025).

The three others—two in Atlanta, Georgia, and one in New York—are still undergoing legal proceedings. The Atlanta-based individuals are scheduled for trial on 12 March 2025.

Judha explained that deported Indonesia are listed as "subjects of interest" by Indonesian immigration, meaning their passport applications or travel requests will undergo additional scrutiny, according to antaranews.com.

As of 24 November 2024, 4,276 Indonesians were on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) "final order of removal" list, making them deportation risks.

Judha urged Indonesians in the U.S. to understand their legal rights, including access to consular assistance, legal representation, and the right to remain silent without a lawyer present.
