Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. - Four Indonesian citizens, recently evacuated from the occupied West Bank and its surroundings, arrived safely in Jakarta on Sunday (15/10/2023).
"The evacuation process has begun since October 13. They were brought safely from a safe house in Jerusalem to Amman via the Jordan River Border," the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement as reported by antaranews.com.
Despite the ongoing tensions in the region, a total of 136 Indonesian citizens have chosen to remain in the West Bank and its surrounding areas. The Indonesian government has been actively engaged in coordinating efforts to evacuate another ten of its citizens from the embattled Gaza Strip, which has faced intense Israeli occupation forces' bombardment since October 7.
The dire security situation in Gaza, a densely populated enclave, necessitates careful planning and close collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate the safe departure of Indonesian citizens from the conflict zone.
No Indonesian casualties have been recorded as of Sunday.
