Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A trash landslide triggered by persistent rain killed three people at the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Treatment Site in Bekasi on Sunday afternoon (8/3/2026).

The Jakarta National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) confirmed the victims included two female stall owners and two male truck drivers who were buried under unstable waste piles.

"The victims have been identified as Enda Widayanti, Sumine, and drivers named Dedi Sutrisno and Irwan Suprihatin," said Jakarta SAR Office Head Desiana Kartika Bahari, as cited by antaranews.com

Persistent downpours throughout the day caused the critical elevations of garbage to collapse, trapping several waste disposal trucks and leveling nearby structures.

Emergency responders from the Bekasi and Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agencies remain on-site to account for missing personnel and excavate buried vehicles. Excavators have been deployed to clear the access roads as rescuers navigate the hazardous terrain. Authorities are currently conducting a census of drivers and vendors to ensure no other individuals remain trapped beneath the debris.
