Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi confirmed on Thursday (6/3/2025) that his ministry will continue its free homecoming travel program for the 2025 Eid Al-Fitr holiday despite budget efficiency policies.
"The Ministry remains committed to running the free homecoming program as in previous years, even with budget constraints," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The initiative aims to reduce private vehicle usage, ease traffic congestion during the holiday season, and, most importantly, enhance traveler safety. The minister emphasized that long-distance travel by private vehicles, especially motorcycles, poses high accident risks.
The government will arrange various free homecoming programs to ensure efficient implementation. The program covers road, sea, and rail transportation, with over 21,000 bus seats, 47,000 ship tickets, and 16,000 train tickets available. Motorcycles can also be transported for free.
