Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Brigadier General Djon Afriandi has assumed the position of the Commander of the Indonesian Military Special Forces (Kopassus), succeeding Major General Deddy Suryadi. The transfer of authority took place at the Army Headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (8/3/2024), with Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army General Maruli Simanjuntak officiating. This was followed by a unit handover ceremony at the Kopassus Headquarters in Cijantung, Jakarta, later in the day. During his address at the ceremony, General Djon reiterated his commitment to enhancing Kopassus and called upon all Kopassus personnel to work together to strengthen the elite unit, as reported by antaranews.com "Our goal is to make each day better than the last, and tomorrow better than today," he said. Addressing the assembled soldiers, General Djon emphasized the importance of unity and professionalism, urging them to strive for excellence while remaining grounded in faith. "We are united in our mission to build a professional, adaptable, and modern Kopassus, guided by our unwavering devotion to our country," said the general, who is distinguished graduate of the Military Academy. He thanked his predecessor, General Deddy, who assumed command of the IV/Diponegoro Regional Military Command (Pangdam IV/Diponegoro) on the same day.
