Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The government has extended the maximum mortgage tenor for subsidized housing from 20 to 30 years in a bid to enhance housing affordability for low-income earners.
Speaking during a site visit in Cikarang on Sunday (8/3/2026), Minister Maruarar Sirait of Housing and Residential Areas noted that the government aims to reduce monthly installments by lengthening the repayment period, making homeownership more accessible for millions of Indonesians under the National 3-Million Housing Program.
"We decided to increase the installment period for the people to 30 years, up from the previous 20-year limit," he said, as cited by antaranews.com
The Ministry of Finance complements existing incentives, including tax exemptions and streamlined building permits. The government is also securing land grants, such as a recent 140,000-unit vertical housing partnership in West Java, to accelerate construction.
