Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government has issued an official warning and a "red report" to Google after the tech giant failed to comply with the newly enacted Government Regulation on Digital Governance for Child Protection (PP Tunas).

"We have officially issued a warning letter to Google as YouTube has shown no immediate intent to fulfill its compliance obligations under our national laws," said Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.

The sanctions were implemented following a rigorous audit conducted on Tuesday, which revealed that YouTube failed to meet safety standards mandated by PP Tunas to protect minors online. While competitors like Meta and X have fully complied by restricting access for users under 16, Google now faces a tiered penalty system that could escalate from administrative warnings to temporary suspension or a total block of services in Indonesia.

Minister Meutya said that the government remains firm in enforcing these regulations across all eight targeted platforms, including TikTok and Roblox, to ensure a secure digital environment for the nation's youth.
