This data, sourced from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), ranked Indonesia fourth globally and second in ASEAN for such cases, according to antaranews.com.
Victims spanned from those in early childhood education to those in Islamic boarding schools, even including disabled individuals. Offenders often have close ties to the victims.
In response, Minister Hadi said that a task force will be formed to tackle the gravity of these child pornography cases.
Despite taking down 1.95 million explicit materials by September 2023, the government stressed the need for inter-ministerial collaboration not only at enforcement but also education and awareness initiatives for prevention, handling, and post-incident support.
