Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team successfully evacuated two foreigners trapped on a steep cliff in Uluwatu, Bali, using a helicopter on Thursday (23/4/2026).
The victims, identified as a 21-year-old Russian woman (DZ) and a 52-year-old American man (SS), were stranded on a vertical rock face in Pecatu Village, South Kuta.
"The evacuation process went smoothly, and both victims were rescued alive," said First Inspector I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, the Head of Public Relations for the Denpasar Sub-regional Police, as cited by antaranews.com.
He explained that because the terrain was too steep for a land rescue, officials deployed an SGI Benoa helicopter to perform a hoisting maneuver to lift the pair to safety.
The emergency was reported after a local beach club received a distress call from the victims. Following the successful operation, the tourists were transported to a heliport for medical evaluation. Authorities noted that the pair are currently receiving treatment for trauma and have not yet been questioned regarding how they became stranded.
