Hoax: Social Media Claims Constitutional Court Stopped Free Nutritious Meal Program

A viral social media narrative claiming that the Constitutional Court (MK) has officially ordered the termination of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program and mandated the redirection of its budget toward general education funding was confirmed as a hoax on Monday (6/7/2026).

A digital fact-check published by Kompas.com on Sunday clarified that the Constitutional Court has not issued any verdict regarding the judicial review of Law No. 17 of 2025 on the 2026 State Budget (APBN), specifically concerning the allocation of the education budget to finance the flagship nutrition program.

The judicial review request was originally filed by a coalition of honorary teachers, the Taman Belajar Nusantara Foundation, and several individual citizens. Far from reaching a final ruling, the legal proceedings regarding the APBN 2026 allocation for the MBG program are actively ongoing. The latest hearing was held 3 July 2026, with the court session focusing on hearing testimonies from school principals presented as witnesses by the government.
