inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ministry of Migrant Workers Protection (KP2MI) is collaborating with the Albanian government to expand the Indonesian labor market, particularly for the SMK (Vocational School) Go Global program.
This strengthened collaboration was demonstrated by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the placement and protection of migrant workers between Indonesian Minister of Migrant Workers Protection Mukhtarudin and Albanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj in Jakarta on Thursday (7/30/2026).
"Of course, in the near future, we hope to have migrant worker placements, especially in the context of President Prabowo Subianto's directive on SMK Go Global. One of the countries of placement will be Albania," said Mukhtarudin.
He explained that the migrant workers placed in Albania will be skilled workers for the non-domestic formal sector.
Therefore, his ministry is committed to continuously improving the quality of the Indonesian workforce, from low-skilled to medium- to high-skilled workers.
In addition to increasing the placement of new workers, Mukhtarudin stated that the memorandum of understanding also strengthens the synergy between the two countries in providing protection for Indonesian migrant workers.
This collaboration aligns with the KP2MI's commitment to continuously strengthen protection for Indonesian migrant workers both before, during, and after placement.
"Although not many Indonesian migrant workers are working in Albania, today's signing demonstrates the two countries' commitment to better coordinate and improve the management of Indonesian migrant workers working in the Republic of Albania," Mukhtarudin added.
The signing of the MoU follows President Prabowo Subianto's visit to Albania in July 2024, when he was still serving as Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, SMK Go Global is a government program that bridges vocational school graduates to work abroad legally, safely, and securely.
The program provides skills training, global certification, and foreign language courses.
Through this program, KP2MI aims to place 40,000 prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) abroad this year.
